About Mrs. Hillery

My journey in education began in 2010 when I accepted a position as a special education paraprofessional in Ogden Kansas. At the time, I had no idea how profoundly this field would shape my life, but it didn't take long to discover a passion for helping students, with diverse learning needs, thrive.
While working as a paraprofessional, I completed my bachelor's degree in psychology with the intention of pursuing a career in art therapy. As my experience in the classroom grew, I realized my true calling was special education. I shifted my path and became a special education teacher, combining my love of creativity with my passion for teaching. During my graduate studies, I focused my research on using art as an instructional tool to support neurodivergent learners. In 2022, I earned my Master of Education in Special Education with an emphasis in Autism and Significant Needs. I finished my program with a lovely presentation about using art in the classroom to engage and motivate students to learn in different ways.
Throughout my career, I have taught students in Colorado, Arizona, California, and Texas. For more than two years, I have worked one-on-one with students, virtually and in their homes, helping them build academic skills, confidence, independence, and a genuine love of learning.
Today, I am proud to welcome students into my own learning space through Class and Chaos LLC. Creating this space has absolutely been a dream come true! My mission is to provide individualized tutoring, inclusive enrichment programs, and engaging art classes that meet every learner where they are. I believe learning should be meaningful, creative, and accessible to everyone, and I strive to create a welcoming environment where students feel safe, supported, celebrated, and empowered to reach their full potential.
Whether we're strengthening academic skills, exploring creativity through art, or simply building confidence one step at a time, I'm excited to be part of each student's journey.
Let's learn, create, and embrace the chaos together!

CLASS AND CHAOS LLC
PARENT & STUDENT POLICIES
These policies help us maintain a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment for every learner, family, and staff member at Class and Chaos. Please review these policies carefully and contact us with any questions.
GENERAL POLICIES
1. PAYMENT & FEES
Payment is due before sessions occur. Sessions will be billed either monthly or bi-weekly, depending on the family's selected payment schedule.
For monthly billing, an invoice will be sent during the last week of each month, with payment due by the 1st of the following month.
For bi-weekly billing, an invoice will be sent during the last week of each month, with payments due by the 1st and 15th.
Families are responsible for ensuring payments are made on time. Any unpaid balances may result in services being paused until the account is brought current.
2. CANCELLATIONS
If you need to cancel a scheduled session, 24-hour notice is required. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice will be charged the full session amount. Repeated cancellations may result in the loss of scheduled services. Three cancellations may result in removal from the schedule.
3. RESCHEDULING
We understand that schedules change! When possible, sessions may be rescheduled with advance communication. One reschedule is allowed per session. If a rescheduled session needs to be changed again, the session may be considered cancelled.
4. NO-SHOW / NO COMMUNICATION
If a student does not attend a scheduled session and the family has not communicated with Class and Chaos, the session will be considered a no-show and the full session fee will apply. A no-show without communication may result in immediate removal from the schedule.
5. ILLNESS
Please keep students home when they are experiencing symptoms that may be contagious or prevent them from safely participating. This includes fever, vomiting, diarrhea, or other significant illness. If a student becomes ill during a session, a parent/guardian may be asked to pick them up. When possible, we will work with families to reschedule due to illness.
6. FOOD ALLERGIES
Please make staff aware of all food allergies and dietary restrictions before services begin. Edible reinforcers such as fruit snacks, candy, pretzels, or other snacks may occasionally be used during sessions. Families are responsible for providing updated allergy information.
7. CAT ON PREMISES
There may occasionally be support animals/cats in the learning space. Families should notify Class and Chaos of any cat or animal allergies before services begin so we can discuss appropriate accommodations or concerns.
8. PERSONAL ITEMS
Students are encouraged to leave valuable or unnecessary personal belongings at home. Class and Chaos is not responsible for lost, damaged, or misplaced personal items. Staff may ask students to put away toys, electronics, or other belongings when they interfere with learning.
STUDENT SAFETY & BEHAVIOR
9. SAFE & RESPECTFUL BEHAVIOR
Every learner deserves to feel safe, respected, and included. Students are expected to treat staff, peers, the building, and materials with care. Bullying, threats, harassment, discriminatory language, or intentionally harmful behavior will not be permitted.
10. UNSAFE OR AGGRESSIVE BEHAVIOR
Students may not engage in physical or other behaviors that create a dangerous situation for themselves, staff, or other learners. If unsafe behavior occurs, the family will receive written follow-up and we will work to determine appropriate next steps.
We understand that challenging behaviors can naturally occur, particularly for students with disabilities or additional support needs. Our goal is always to respond with understanding and support. However, everyone entering our learning space must be able to feel safe and secure.
Two documented incidents of significant unsafe behavior may result in removal from the schedule. Class and Chaos reserves the right to end services immediately when behavior creates an immediate or serious safety risk.
11. PROPERTY DAMAGE
Students are expected to treat the Class and Chaos space, furniture, equipment, artwork, and materials respectfully. Families may be responsible for reasonable repair or replacement costs when property is intentionally or significantly damaged.
12. ELOPEMENT / LEAVING THE PREMISES
Students must remain in their designated learning area unless given permission to leave. Students may not leave the building or supervised area without appropriate authorization. Families should communicate any history of elopement or wandering so an appropriate safety plan can be discussed.
13. TOILETING & PERSONAL CARE
Families should communicate any toileting, changing, or personal-care needs before services begin. Staff assistance with personal care will depend on the service being provided and staff availability. Parents/guardians may be required to remain available when a student requires a level of personal care that staff cannot provide.
14. EMERGENCY PROCEDURES
The safety of students and staff is our priority during an emergency. Class and Chaos may evacuate, relocate, contact emergency services, or contact a parent/guardian when necessary. Families should ensure that emergency contact information is always current.
PARENT/GUARDIAN RESPONSIBILITIES
15. DROP-OFF & PICK-UP
Students should arrive at their scheduled time and be picked up promptly when their session ends. Parents/guardians remain responsible for their child until the student has been accepted into their scheduled service and again immediately when the service ends.
A $10 late pickup fee will be charged for any pickup that occurs more than 10 minutes after the scheduled end of the session. The late pickup fee must be paid before the student's next scheduled session.
If a student has not been picked up within 30 minutes of the scheduled pickup time and there has been no communication from the parent/guardian, Class and Chaos reserves the right to contact the appropriate authorities to ensure the student's safety.
16. AUTHORIZED PICK-UP
Students will only be released to a parent/guardian or another individual authorized by the family. Families are responsible for providing updated authorization information and notifying Class and Chaos of changes to pickup arrangements.
17. EMERGENCY CONTACTS & STUDENT INFORMATION
Families must provide accurate and current contact information, emergency contacts, allergy information, and other information necessary to safely support their student. Please notify Class and Chaos whenever important information changes.
18. COMMUNICATION EXPECTATIONS
Good communication helps us provide better services. Families should communicate schedule changes, concerns, behavioral changes, allergies, medical considerations, or other information that could affect a student's participation or safety.
19. SIBLINGS & ADDITIONAL CHILDREN
Unless specifically enrolled in a program, siblings and other children accompanying a family member are not considered participants in the scheduled service. Parents/guardians remain responsible for supervising children who are not enrolled in a Class and Chaos program.
